Terms of service

These rules apply to everyone who uses Zetboo. By creating an account, you declare that you have read them and you accept them. They are here so that everyone can chat in good conditions.

1. Who can use Zetboo

• The service is reserved for people aged 18 or over. If you are a minor, you must not create an account. An account whose owner turns out to be a minor will be deleted.
• You must provide a valid e-mail address, used to confirm your account and to regain access if you lose your password.
• You create one account for yourself only and keep your password secret. What is done from your account is your responsibility.
• The service is free. It is provided "as is": we do our best to keep it running, but cannot guarantee that it will always be available or error-free.

2. Respect for others

Zetboo is a place to meet people. Stay courteous, even when you disagree. The following are forbidden:

• harassment, repeated insults, threats, intimidation, and contacting someone again who no longer wishes to reply;
• hateful or discriminatory speech, or speech that incites violence, in particular because of origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or appearance;
• sharing private information about someone (address, phone number, photos, conversations) without their consent;
• impersonation: pretending to be another person, a member of the team or an organization;
• pressure, blackmail and any attempt to obtain money, photos or personal information through trickery or coercion (scams, romance scams).

3. Forbidden content

You must not send, in a room or in a private message:

• any illegal content, or content that encourages illegal activity;
• any sexual content involving a minor, or any sexual conversation with a minor. Such content is reported to the competent authorities;
• pornographic or sexually explicit content in public rooms, as well as images of a person sent without their consent;
• violent or shocking content, or content that glorifies serious acts;
• viruses or any file meant to harm a device or an account. Files are checked by an antivirus and infected ones are deleted;
• advertising, solicitation or repeated messages (spam), including links to other services, without the publisher's agreement;
• content that infringes the rights of others, such as protected works you have no right to share.

4. Rooms

• The creator of a room is its owner. They can appoint administrators, change the room settings, kick a participant or ban them. A moderation decision taken in a room applies to that room's participants.
• Give the room's real language, and a name and description that match what people find there. A misleading room, or one used to get around these rules, may be closed.
• Public rooms are visible to everyone, including visitors without an account, who only see the name, description, language and avatar, not the messages.

5. Messages, files and retention

• The messages in rooms and private conversations, and the files (photos, voice messages, documents) sent, are automatically deleted after 30 days.
• Files have a limited size and are scanned by an antivirus. A refused file is not sent. Photos are reduced before sending and voice messages last one minute at most.
• As in any conversation, what you send can be copied by the people you talk to. Think before sending personal information or an intimate photo.

6. Reporting a problem, moderation and sanctions

If you come across content or behavior that breaks these rules, write to thierry@zetboo.com stating the room or person involved and, if possible, a description of what happened. You can also contact the room's owner.

If the rules are not respected, the publisher may, depending on the seriousness: send a warning, remove content, kick the person from a room, suspend or delete an account, without notice when the situation requires it (for example to protect a minor). The publisher may pass the necessary information to the authorities when the law requires it.

7. Safety tips

• Never give money, a password or a code received by message to someone you do not know.
• Be careful before sharing your address, your workplace or your phone number.
• To meet someone in person, choose a public place and tell someone you trust.
• You can ignore someone, leave a room or ask us to delete your account at any time.

8. Responsibility

Each person is responsible for what they write and send. The publisher is not the author of the messages exchanged between members and cannot check them all in advance; it acts as soon as illegal content is reported to it. Zetboo cannot be held responsible for damage caused by an interruption of the service, by the loss of messages (which are deleted after 30 days anyway) or by exchanges between members.

9. Changes

These rules may change, for example if the service changes or if the law requires it. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page. Continuing to use Zetboo after a change means you accept the new rules; in case of an important change, we will let you know on the site.
